Effective Voting Quandry
Living in Harperville (aka Calgary, Ab) and being intensely anti-harper, there is little i can do locally to register my concerns voting-wise. Therefore my efforts have been towards the national scene. I have been writing letters to as many newspapers that i can find encouraging voters to seek out sites such as www.voteforenvironment.ca so that we can dump this man, who has effectively been elected by less than 30% of Canadians. I would love to see some Greens get some seats, but it appears that even without vote splitting the Cons. would take these ridings. This has been borne out by checking voting patterns on sites such as www.electionpredictionproject.org as well. Based on this i will be voting Liberal in my riding of Calgary Centre, and encouraging others to vote NDP, Liberal in their ridings depending on current strength. I want to do something for the Greens, but a vote for them is basically a vote for Harper. Instead i am going to contribute to the Green Party with dollars. I would like to hear from others about this...
